Dew Point Sensor down to -70 °C Td (-94 °F Td)

TDS501

Industrial drying applications, especially battery cell production, places stringent demands on dew point measurement. At low moisture levels, even small deviations can impact product quality, yield, and safety. Common processes such as opening doors or airlocks and load changes require stable signals. In this environment, a “frozen” or heavily averaged output during auto-calibration can create process blind spots. The TDS501 is designed to provide continuous dew point data down to -70 °C Td (-94 °F Td), enabling reliable process mapping 24/7 and supporting efficient dehumidification control. With a robust industrial design and straightforward integration with analogue and digital interfaces, the TDS501 helps reduce avoidable energy consumption and unplanned downtime.

  • Fast response time and process reliability
  • High repeatability and an accuracy of ±2 °C Td
  • Pressure rating of up to 80 bar (1,160 psi)
  • Responds immediately to dew point changes at all times

Application Areas

  • Industrial Drying
Drying rooms for battery cells; drying ovens (coatings, powder coatings, electronics); plastics drying (granulate dryers & material drying)
  • Pharmaceutical Industry
Compressed air applications for drying, quality control of coatings, filling, and packaging
  • Food & Beverage
Compressed air applications for drying, quality control of coatings, filling, and packaging

Process confidence you can build on with repeatable dew point measurements that work up to 80 bar pressure

When dew point becomes a control variable, you need the confidence provided by a signal that stays consistent across changing operating conditions and gives the same answer every time you return to the same process state. The TDS501 is built for exactly that kind of dependable monitoring by combining high repeatability with ±2 °C Td accuracy to support stable, reproducible production conditions. It is also designed to ensure that typical process temperature changes do not undermine the dew point result, keeping the measurement reliable when the environment is dynamic. And with a pressure rating up to 80 bar, it can be installed where the process actually runs, making it a robust foundation for process control and quality assurance in high-pressure compressed air applications.

A fully tuned measurement system for reliable performance

The TDS501 is not just a dew point sensor element packaged into a housing. It is a measurement system engineered as a whole. E+E Elektroniks in-house sensing elements are optimized for the target application, and the deep understanding of their physical behavior is the basis for reproducible and stable measurement performance. This is why E+E Elektronik can align all relevant operating algorithms: sensing element, electronics, mechanical integration, mounting, and adjustment. So they work together consistently, rather than behaving like independent parts. For customers, this means stable, repeatable results and a dependable basis for process decisions across devices, batches and operating conditions .

Advantages of TDS501 with E+E Sensors

The TDS501 is designed around a key requirement in low dew point control: auto-calibration must not interrupt the measurement signal. In highly dynamic applications, control decisions are made continuously, and an output that freezes during calibration can hide real process deviations exactly when they matter most. The TDS501 uses a special technology, which is based on a four-element measuring method with robust capacitive sensor elements. It focuses on delivering continuous dew point information for 24/7 process mapping, enabling stable control loops.

The TDS501 extends the E+E dew point portfolio down to -70 °C Td for processes where very low moisture is critical. In these environments, dew point is not just a documentated value, it is the control variable that ensures stable drying, prevents moisture-related scrap, and reduces the need for conservative safety margins. This applies to high-demand drying processes such as battery cell production and plastics material drying, where even short-term moisture excursions can have immediate quality impact.

It also applies to adsorption-based drying systems (PSA), in which the dryer performance depends on the adsorption capacity and the regeneration cycle.  During this process, dew point monitoring is used to confirm that the system is operating within specification and to identify early signs of breakthrough or declining adsorption performance before it affects the process. The same low-dew-point capability also supports assured dryness in utilities and distribution networks, preventing system failures while documenting gas quality in applications such as compressed air monitoring and critical gas supplies.

Seasonal fluctuations, shutdowns, or component faults can cause short-term condensation in compressed air systems. The TDS501 is designed to remain reliable under these abnormal conditions and to reduce condensation-related drift through practical design choices. These include wettable sensing elements, a stainless steel sintered filter, and a robust stainless steel construction all supported by a sophisticated auto-calibration designed to provide stable long-term performance. The benefit is reliable continuous monitoring and less troubleshooting when conditions temporarily shift from the ideal range.

In drying and compressed air applications, moisture conditions can change quickly, and control actions depend on timely dew point feedback. The TDS501 uses a stainless steel filter as a robust standard setup for industrial operation, balancing protection and response time.
For applications in cleanrooms that require accurate dew point measurements and fast response times, the TDS501 includes an optional open filter cap to further improve response time and capture dew point deviations earlier.
