What is ISO 9001 Calibration?
An ISO 9001 calibration certificate documents the comparison of a measuring instrument against high-quality reference devices. The process follows internal procedures aligned with ISO 9001 quality management standards, ensuring reliable information on measurement accuracy. Unlike accredited calibration, ISO 9001 calibration is not traceable or internationally comparable, but it is ideal for verifying that an instrument meets its original specifications at defined points.
The E+E Elektronik calibration laboratory is manufacturer-independent and provides multi-brand ISO 9001 calibration services.
Air Velocity
ISO 9001 calibration for air velocity sensors is performed in a wind tunnel with a homogeneous and reproducible air flow. The reference instrument used is traceable to international standards. Comparative measurement is performed according to internal procedures that meet the requirements of ISO 9001 quality standards. The calibration is performed in air at ambient temperature.
Only air velocity sensors manufactured by E+E Elektronik can be calibrated. Temperature calibration is not included and will not be stated on the ISO 9001 certificate.
ISO 9001 air velocity calibration at E+E Elektronik ensures accurate measurement results with traceable reference devices.
ISO 9001 dew point calibration with traceable reference devices in low Td and normal Td ranges.
Dew Point
ISO 9001 calibration for dew point sensors is carried out using reference devices that are traceable to national standards. Comparative measurement is performed according to internal procedures that meet the requirements of ISO 9001 quality standards. ISO 9001 dew point calibrations are performed in air at ambient temperature.
Two dew point calibration ranges are available:
low Td using a dew point reference device
normal Td using a humidity generator reference device
ISO 9001 calibration for humidity sensors is performed using a high-end portable humidity generator from E+E Elektronik, traceable to international standards. The reference device can accommodate humidity probes, sensors, and small data loggers. Comparative measurements are carried out according to internal procedures that comply with ISO 9001 quality standards. All humidity calibrations are performed in air at ambient temperature.
ISO 9001 pressure calibration guarantees dependable results for measuring instruments up to ±10,000 Pa (±100 hPa or ±0.1 bar)
Pressure
ISO 9001 calibration for pressure sensors is carried out in the low pressure range, covering relative and differential pressure up to ±10,000 Pa (±100 hPa or ±0.1 bar). The reference devices are traceable to national standards, ensuring consistent and reliable results. We follow internal procedures that meet ISO 9001 quality standards.
ISO 9001 calibration for temperature measuring instruments is performed using reference devices such as dry block calibrators (contact temperature type), which are traceable to international standards.

Christian Leitner, Head of Customer Service and ISO 9001 Calibration Laboratory at E+E Elektronik
An ISO 9001 calibration certificate adds value to your sensor by ensuring reliable and accurate measurements through comparison with traceable reference standards. For over 20 years, we have been providing fast, high-quality calibration services – independent of the sensor manufacturer.
ISO 9001 Calibration Procedure
Before requesting a quotation or shipping the device to be calibrated (specimen) to E+E Elektronik, the calibration laboratory must first evaluate the sensor to ensure that calibration can be performed. For example, the EE260 and EE310-T1 (wall mount) are not compatible with the reference devices used for ISO 9001 calibration.
The calibration order must specify the calibration points and the desired accuracy range (within which no corrective actions are taken).
Upon receipt, the specimen undergoes a quick functional test to verify that the device operates properly and that there are no visible damages. In case of visible defects or if the device cannot be powered on, the customer will be contacted to determine further steps.
An initial calibration is then performed at the specified points, and the results are documented in the “as found” certificate.
If the values are within the specified tolerances, the certificate is printed and sent together with the sensor to the customer.
If the specimen is defective or out of specification, E+E Elektronik will send a quotation for repair or adjustment.
Once the device has been repaired and adjusted, it is calibrated a second time, and the results are documented in the “as left” calibration certificate.
Both the “as found” and “as left” certificates are printed and shipped together with the calibrated sensor.
Before requesting a quotation or shipping the device to be calibrated (specimen) to E+E Elektronik, the calibration laboratory must evaluate the sensor to ensure that calibration can be performed (e.g., probe diameter or sensor size/length may not be compatible with the reference devices used for ISO 9001 calibration).
If the specimen is equipped with a non-standard interface for E+E Elektronik (e.g., analog output current/voltage or a digital interface with Modbus RTU/TCP protocol), the customer must provide the necessary software to read the values (including license, if required) as well as the interface cable to connect the device to a PC.
The customer must also indicate whether the sensor can be adjusted. If so, the corresponding adjustment software (with license, if required) and the interface cable must also be provided.
The calibration order must specify the calibration points and the desired accuracy range (within which no corrective actions are taken).
Upon receipt, the specimen undergoes a quick functional test to verify that the device works properly and that there are no visibly damaged parts. In case of visible defects or if the device does not power on, the customer will be contacted to determine further steps.
Initial calibration is performed at the specified points, and the results are documented in the “as found” certificate.
If the values are within the specified tolerances, the certificate is printed and shipped together with the sensor to the customer.
If the specimen is out of specification, E+E Elektronik will send a quotation to the customer for adjustment.
Once the sample has been adjusted, it is calibrated a second time, and the results are documented in the “as left” calibration certificate.
Both the “as found” and “as left” certificates are printed and sent with the sensor to the customer.
